In an effort to save their youngster, owl's parents beg the Mighty Spirit of the Jungle to spare the most beautiful baby from an annual sacrifice. With intention to oblige, the Spirit eats the youngster that to him looks ugliest, with sad consequences. While tragic, this folktale forces alternative perspective-taking. It teaches children the value of objective description, and the potential pitfalls of vanity. Several versions exist, some titled differently, but this one is popular in Argentina.
